You Can Play Much More Than Horseshoes

By: David Roth

For people who like playing outdoor games with friends and family members there are a lot of choices. Most people play either horseshoes, badminton, or Frisbee. These are fun games and a lot of people like them, but they can't be played by everyone. The best thing to do if you're going to have a lot of people over for a get-together, is to have games that everyone can enjoy. One of these is the Cornhole game. The best part about a game like this is that anyone can play it! It's very easy to learn and it's not physically demanding, so it doesn't matter if you're two or ninety-two, you can still play it quite easily. The first thing you'll need to do is buy a Cornhole game. If you're feeling creative, you can also make your own set. You can make the board and buy the bags or vice versa. You can also make both if you want to, and you only need basic woodworking skills and some simple tools. You don't even need a sewing machine, because the bags can be sewn by hand. That makes the Cornhole game a really great choice for all kinds of people for all walks of life.

If you want to make your own Cornhole game you'll need cloth for the bags along with something to fill them with. Most of the bags that are sold today are filled with plastic pellets, but some of them are still filled with dried beans or dried corn. These were the original filling materials but they can become damaged if they get wet, so plastic pellets are becoming more popular. As long as the bags are the right size and weight almost any kind of hard, small, and water-resistant filling is a good choice. As for the board, most people make them out of wood. Some of the store-bought ones are plastic, but most people don't have the capabilities to make their board that way. The original boards were made of wood, so making them that way again is a good and traditional choice. The whole family can enjoy making the Cornhole game together, too, which means a lot to families who like to do things together.

Once you make your Cornhole game, playing it is easy. The rules are very simple. You stand a designated distance from the board and you toss the bags, one at a time, at a hole that's been cut into that board. If the bag goes in you score points. If the bag lands on the board and stays there, you score points just not as many. If the bag misses the board entirely or hits it and falls off, you don't get any points. The first one to twenty-one points wins. You can also play by yourself just for fun, or you can play in teams. No matter what your age or skill level, the Cornhole game offers something for everyone. Why not learn to play today and enjoy it with your family and friends at your next get-together?

Dave Roth operates a site which sells cornhole games. In addition to free building dimensions and game rules, the site also carries discount cornhole bags boards.
