Why it is Safe to Eat Beef and a Tasty Beef Recipe to Prove It!

Beef is amongst the western world's much loved meat products, and given its taste and versatility, is it any wonder?.

In modern times, there has been copious debate on the question of whether beef is a wonder food to be savored by all, or a dangerous 'bad' food to be shunned whenever you can.

Just to further confuse us, even in scientific circles, there are many views, but further on in this page we will deliver a few handy factual tips on beef, dispense with some wellknown fallacies and make sure that you are given the real facts you need to make your own decision.

Before we give you the beef facts, here is a delicious beef recipe that you can easily prepare for your dinner guests.

This is a delicious recipe for 'macaroni beef chili'. It is quick and simple to cook and is a simple and efficient meal a family with lots of kids.

Recipe ingredients:
----------------
Macaroni - uncooked : 1 x cup
Low fat Ground Beef : 1/2 pound
Garlic powder : one half teaspoon
Cayenne or chili Powder : 1 tsp
Salt : one pinch (to taste)
Freshly ground black peppercorns : 1 x pinch (to taste)
Your favourite tomato soup : 1 Can
Hard cheese : 1 oz. (finely grated)

Recipe instructions:

Bring a large pan of water to a rolling boil put the macaroni into the water, and cook for roughly 7 minutes.
Brown meat in another good sized pan and very carefully drain off any fat that has appeared.
Stir in the garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper and then stir with a wooden spoon until well mixed.
Turn the heat to low and cook gently for approx. 5 minutes.
Add the macaroni and tomato soup, and increase the heat.
Cook for a an additional few minutes until the dish is at a uniform temperature.

Before you serve, add the cheese, and cook a little more till it has melted.

Ladle into bowls and serve your guests.

This is a great dish to cook in large quantities as left overs can be kept in the refrigerator and reheated the next day.
If you want to cook a long time in advance, you can leave the cheese out and freeze portions for later. Simply add the cheese just before you finally serve the recipe.

As promised here are a few specific nutritional facts for you:

1/. The zinc that is in lean beef is central for healthy growth, strengthens the immune response, helps heal cuts, grazes and wounds, controls hunger and appetitie and can influence your ability to experience taste.

2/. Lean beef contains Key 'b' vitamins, which are believed to help in preventing strokes and heart attacks and also help the body to create haematids (red blood cells).

3/. Some so-called dieticians believe that people on a diet should not eat beef. In fact, this is not the case, the truth is that the 80 gram portion of beef that most experts prescribe as a correct daily consumption, is in fact less than 10% of the ideal two thousand calories daily target.

4/. If you look at it scientifically, quality beef is just about as beneficial as expensive multi-vitamin pills as it is a really good source of protein, vitamin b12, zinc, iron, niacin and phosphorus.

5/. Many folk think that you should keep away from beef as they think it includes too much fat. Whilst this may have been true once, lean beef in the stores in modern times is noticeably healthier than it was in the past, and over half the fats found in today's lean beef are monounsaturated fats which are thought by doctors to be better for your health than other fats.

6/. Just a 80 gram portion of quality beef can deliver more than ten percent of ones necessary daily value of vitamin b6, protein, vitamin b12, zinc and iron.

7/. Measuring the uncooked weight, 100 grams of beef has:

* approx. 200 calories
* zero grams of sugar.
* 53mg of Sodium.
* zero grams of carbohydrate.
