Social Networking

By: Tom Haye

It is impossible hard to miss the buzz about social networking. It seems that social networking is becoming more and more popular. The best feature about social networking is that it is all about what people have in common.

Social Networking may not be a concept that you are familiar with. Simply, social networking is a way to seek connection and bond with others. A very well known social networking site is the hugely popular MySpace. Although the field of social networking is a broad one, it basically consists of two areas: socializing with friends and professional networking. The true power of social networking is the unhindered connection of people with similar interests. The premise of social networking is that any friend of my friend is also my friend. It has become a part of people's identities.

There are many different ways to use social networking sites. Social networking sites allow users to create personal spaces online with images, blogs, videos and much more. One of the amenities provided by some community sites are free chat rooms or conference rooms. It is the easiest way to share photos, journals and interests with a growing network of mutual friends. Obviously, social networking is not just for kids. I think the greatest thing about social networking is you've linked yourself to so many people around the world.

If you haven’t joined a social networking site yet, I highly recommend that you try one today. The friends that you can make are just one of the many benefits to social networking online. To join a online community, you will have to go through a registration process. To start finding new friends, you must create a profile first and tell others a little about yourself. This is because, internet users are looking to communicate with someone who has the same beliefs. You do need to protect yourself online when using online social networking websites, by watching what you post online and enter in your profile. Only use your first name in your profile, blog or forum posts. It is also better to use a nearby city instead of the city or town you live in. Be cautious when making contact with other internet users, especially those that contact you.
