Should I Purchase A Red Ring Of Death Xbox Fix

By: Richard V Brown

The need for a ring of death xbox fix are likely coming your way if youre a serious gamer, the xbox brilliant as it is, has a few critical design errors . For which Microsoft should be mortified (the new ones are STILL flawed!).
So seeing your console flashing red rings of death at you is an regrettable , regular occasion. Still as many have been through this setback, there are now loads of proven and guaranteed fixes . So alls not lost , you dont have to pay Microsoft to rebuild your xbox, and be without it for weeks on end while it waits in line to be re-engineered.
{{{So why all the 360 problems?| whats wrong with the 360?
The issue is the 360 was never manufactured with enough fans to dissipate the intense heat the console generates. Even if youre cautious to allow ventilation prolonged playing of graphics hungry games makes cook your diner levels of heat.
From launch the Xbox 360 has had heat related issues causing the red light xbox error (red rings of death). Many of all red light xbox faults can be tracked back to dodgy GPU & CPU contact to the heatsink and also iffy joining between the two (thermal grease or thermal paste). The design flaw of the 360 x-clamps that hold the CPU to the heatsink create all this. Made of soft metal the 360 x-clamps bend under extreme heat, and take the motherboard with them. So effecting the contact with CPU & GPU and causing the need for a red light xbox fix.

Before doing something too drastic like posting your 360 back to Microsoft for red light xbox repair, or lifting the hood on it yourself, if its never done anything thing like this before, you might get fluky and find that just leaving your xbox cool off may let the corrupted weld points make good again, and you could be gamingwithout doing anything. Though you WILL have to make sure to ventilate your xbox in future; as the red light xbox fix issue will only keep happening without mending properly.
If if youre without video, change the audio visual cable (AV), as theyre always fragile and can easily be damaged. I would suggest trying a friends (if you dont have a spare) one as an experiment before forking out on a new one.
Attempt these basic fixes first
1) Turn off xbox, wait at least 20 minutes (it could take over an hour if its really hot!), and put it back on.
2) Check for any loose cables.
3) Remove all the cables except the power cord, and put them back in.
4) Remove the hard-drive out, and put back again.
5) Try starting up again.
If this doesnt correct your red light xbox fix, Im extremely sorry but it looks like youve got real serious faults to deal with.
What are the best do it yourself red light xbox fixes, and how many are there?
legendary xbox 360 towel fix Not for the timid this one. Bake your xbox in an oven of towels for 25 minutes, hoping the xbox solder connections to re-connect before catching fire!
Poor execution of the xbox towel fix could lead to a visit from the fire services, and possibly homelessness!
Not recommended.
All other fixes need opening of the xbox and will void any warranty.
Generally there are two methods of fix, that either replace the xbox x-clamps ( adhere the heat sinks to the motherboard), and those that support the motherboard to stop it moving when it heats up instead.
xbox penny fix Needs you to open the xbox , and rather than replace the x-clamps (which can be awkward and requires the use of thermal paste), suggests a technique for better supporting the motherboard using pennies and electrical tape. Gamers have also used a pencil eraser cut to size, hence you get the xbox rubber (no sniggering!) fix, and xbox eraser fix too.
This fix works for many and requires no special tools or thermal paste.
Replacing the x- clamps A premium solution as the xbox x-clamps are the root of the problem, but may need the use of thermal past ($12), and will probably take a little longer.
xbox heat gun fix I dont own a heat gun, nor know anyone who has used this repair.
