Look Around Lancing As Part Of Your Sussex Break

Found in the south coast of England, the historic county of Sussex is fragmented into two distinct areas: Eastern and Western. it's easily approachable from England and other countries through a professional rail network bonding London, Scotland, Wales, and other districts to the quaint city. In addition to this, Sussex is also effortlessly reached by plane or by coach.

Renowned for its potent past, Sussex is defined by its rolling fields and striking coasts that have been the fields of England's great battles. In testimony to this background, the area offers a variety of castles, manors and other historical areas to visit.

One is faced with a difficult task of choosing which places to visit in Sussex because there are so many! Highly recommended sites to explore are historic houses, manicured gardens, old English towns, and their structures, museums, and so many more.

Sussex offers a rich collection of heritage sites such as the Alfriston Clergy House, Standen, and Bateman's. It also boasts of a number of medieval castles such at Bodiam, Lewes, Herstmonceux, and Pevensey, which bring to mind images of princesses and childhood fairytales.

For those who love the English outdoors, the countryside and coast of Sussex pose great settings for memorable walks. Featuring diverse landscapes and picturesque natural environments such as the chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, Sussex is a great place to appreciate nature. Its two trails, South Downs Way and Monarchs Way, offer walkers delightful opportunities to explore Sussex in all its mighty splendour.

Sussex is alive with endless things to do for adults and families, varying from enjoyable hikes across the stunning and un-spoilt countryside to sampling the exciting nightlife that Brighton has to offer. There are many first class golf courses including Copthorne and Hill Barn, and many other sporting attractions include the ever-popular Goodwood racing circuit. There are well-known museums such as Brighton Museum and the art gallery at De La Warr pavilion. Brighton is also home to the famous racecourse, or you could sample the delights of the English Wine Centre

The best thing about the restaurant & bar atmosphere in Sussex is the music. Several pubs & clubs in the area are specialised in different kinds of music such as blues, pop, rock, jazz, and punk. There is also the occasional open mic night that promises interesting performances from some local Sussex lads and lasses.

Clubbers also find themselves enjoying the Sussex club & bar life. The scene is always innovating and is a popular place to visit for the laid-back clubbers, as Sussex clubs are known for having great, relaxed sounds, especially in Brighton. Fashion lovers also find the club scene in Sussex interesting, as they bring about some peculiar yet delightfully different styles from some of the regulars.

In Brighton happens one of the largest festivals in England, but there are also some small festivals that are of note, namely the Chiddingly Festival. These usually bring out some of the best entertainment in English culture, presenting exhibitions in music, literature, dance, theatre, and comedy. Specifically, the literature presentations are of note as they showcase the rich literary history of England, and more specifically, Sussex.

Entertainment in Sussex also appeals to the racing crowd, as renowned Goodwood is famous for hosting the Festival of Speed that happens every June. The festival showcases fast cars and selected racing legends that happily grace the excited fans with their presence. The festival commonly finds itself celebrating the vintage motorsport scene which was dominated by the British back in the 40s and the 50s.

To escape the bustle of dull and dreadful London, a trip down to Sussex is highly recommended. Not only does this superb escape offer the best of English history and culture, it also offers a quaint charm that is characterised by its simplicity and its deeply ingrained cultural tradition.
