Law Profession in the US

Being a attorney is one of the most respected occupations in the US. The country is pleased to have some of the best law schools in the globe and brings up a number of world class attorneys that are up for today's demanding society. The law profession in the US aspires to help people fight for what rightly belongs to them- their lives, liberty and properties. As much has we can deal with our own affairs, we need the assistance of attorneys when it comes to legal matters.

Law vocation in the US comprises of attorneys who held about 761,000 jobs in 2006. About 27% of attorneys are self-employed, practicing either as partners in law firms or in private practice. Most high salaried attorneys held positions in government, in law firms or other corporations, or in nonprofit organizations. Most government-employed attorneys operated at the local level. In the National Government, attorneys worked for different agencies but are mostly designated in Departments of Defense, Justice, and Treasury.

Other US attorneys that practices law profession outside of the government are mostly employed by private companies. Industries that require the service of attorneys are mostly in the field of real estate, insurance, banks, public utilities, manufacturing firms and other for-profit organizations.

Law profession in the US also includes part-time independent practices. Some attorneys are also inclined to be in the field of education and teach. A relatively minor number of trained attorneys work in law schools, and are not included in the employment approximation for attorneys. Most are faculty members who specialize in one or more fields of study; however, some serve as school supervisors. While some work full time in non-academic settings.
