Holiday Savings On Kitchen Cabinets

I found huge savings this weekend by going online and finding a deal on kitchen cabinets. It was easier than waiting in line at four o’clock in the morning, to buy a TV from a retail store. Instead I went online, did a dew searches and found the kitchen cabinets I needed at a cost lower than any Black Friday Sale!

I was in need of kitchen cabinets and was afraid of spending too much money, so Instead of going the traditional route, which is going to a big box retail store like Home Depot or Lowe’s, I tried doing a search online. At first I was not having much luck, I was searching for “: kitchen cabinets” and not finding any prices that were good. Most of the searches I was finding were basically advertisements for the big time cabinet retailers like Aristocraft. I started reading some articles and digging deeper. After some research I found that the best cabinets (in terms of value and quality) were not the assembled cabinets, but instead a newer style cabinet called RTA or ready to assemble.

These RTA kitchen cabinets (they also have RTA bathroom vanities) come to you in a pre-assembled box. The box is about one tenth the size of the actual cabinet, but once assembled these cabinets look and feel just like any other cabinet. First I was worried about the quality of this new discovery. I quickly found out that the better RTA kitchen cabinets or RTA bathroom vanities are “pre-assembled” with paneled wood sides and solid wood faces. If you come across RTA cabinets that use particle board, simply keep on looking. Particle board is a product that is cheap and made to eventually fall apart. You will see particle board products at places like IKEA. Yes the product looks great, but this type of material absorbs water or moisture, thus expanding the cabinets and eventually causing enough stress to weaken the cabinet and an eventual breakdown. So, again the quality is good, if you find the better RTA kitchen cabinets or RTA bathroom vanities, and this can be done by looking at the website and reading up on the product. It should be clearly advertised on the site and if it is not move on to the next RTA site (there are plenty of them out there, but the quality websites will rise to the top).

So now that I had the quality issue resolved, the next item was the cost. How were these cabinets coming in at a price of almost half of what an assembled kitchen cabinet price? Was this really a Black Friday type of sale or were these cabinets are great deal all the time? I found that RTA kitchen cabinets are traditionally lower in price because you are assembling the product. Yes it is a little more work, but in this economy, if you can cut corners and save hundreds of dollars, I advise that you do so. So the answer is that you are assembling these products and this makes the price much better. But don’t worry; it was very easy to assemble these products. No problems and it took about twenty minutes per cabinet.

So keep this in mind for your next project. Use RTA kitchen cabinets or RTA bathroom vanities and you will be saving like it is Black Friday.
