Hockey: How to Follow the Season

By: jreider

Hockey can be an unpredictable game of sorts because of the violence and brutality, which comes into play every game, day in day out, due to injuries and the hometown feel. Let us take a look at 7 different things that can greatly influence how you should place bets on Hockey.

1) Hockey is brutal, it is imperative to follow the injured lists for each team throughout the season. Some players will even play with broken fingers and other bones to help team out during a tough time, especially during the playoffs.

2) In the NHL today, there are many young and fresh teams that just do not have the experience of some of the older players or older clubs which will have an effect on the play of these individuals as the season stretches on.

3) I have watched teams start so strong in October, but as the long season wears on, the players themselves fall apart as fatigue and the overall pain of getting smashed into the boards takes its toll. Pay attention to the overall strength of a team before placing a bet on the favorite.

4) Hockey is sporadic, and just like any other sport, teams will go through slumps and hot streaks, and some teams play better without their stars as the younger players step up to take off some of the slack.

5) Another thing I have noticed about hockey players is their involvement in the community of the town they are playing in. If a hockey player, especially a star, is not welcomed by the community and is constantly in the news papers with bad press, this will definitely have an effect on his play and possibly his teammates and could end up with the release of that player.

6) My favorite team fired one of their best managers ever, and then the new manager came in and demolished the team. Keep in mind this factor when betting on hockey, all of these variables are extremely important especially how the team and the manager react and interact with each other, and affects their general overall play.

7) Teams that pay the most money for the biggest players do not always win the championship, the highest paid teams manager, started to have health problems and shortly thereafter, the entire team fell apart, even with the best players in the league on the team and they were unable to win the championship.

After reading this helpful guide a few times you will probably start to see that these are just 7 different things that, when put together may help you place more educated bets on hockey, and as time goes by, you will begin to fell and understand more and more of these variables that I did not list here and then send them to me for another article on how to improve your hockey betting techniques.
