Football Tailgating: 4 Handy tips in tailgating

By: Wellington W

As tailgating continues to be the number 1 sport of loyal football fans we would like to give our top tips in tailgating. Our hope is to help your next tailgating experience bring you all the fun that you are expecting. These tips are meant to save you time and money in your tailgating experiences.

1st Handy tip in Tailgating: Big plastic bins

Tailgating parties are the best fan parties that there are. However, planning, organizing, and running a tailgate party can take some serious work. We recommend as our 1st handy tip in tailgating that you organize all of your tailgating items in big plastic bins. This will help your travel because they will fit in most cars, are stackable, and can even opt as a portable table.

Big plastic bins have another benefit, and that is convenience in planning. If you are a regular tailgater then you will have a list of standard items that you always bring with you. To save time, keep these items in your tailgating bins, and then they are ready to go for your next event.
We recommend that you buy some clear bins so that you can see through them. This will prevent opening and re opening the bins. If you are extremely organized then you can have an inventory list on the top of the bins that is laminated and taped on. This will help you know what is in all of the bins for fast retrieval.

2nd Handy tip in Tailgating: Bring a deck of cards, or games

There is a lot of waiting time prior to getting your spot on the asphalt. At time you can be waiting in lines for a couple of hours, or simply waiting for the charcoal to burn. In these situations instead of twiddling your thumbs we recommend that you bring a deck of cards to play with, or if you are tailgating with your family that you bring a couple games to play with the kids. This will help the time pass and keep everyone in a fun mood for the tailgate.

3rd Handy tip in Tailgating: Bring a Flag

Most of the fun that goes into tailgating is sharing your passion for the football team. We recommend that you have a tailgate team flag. This also has another advantage, if there are lots of people coming to your party at different times; having your flag raised high will let them know where you are in the huge parking lot. You will need a flag pole. You can either buy a flag pole set in a local store, or on the internet. If you are looking for a cheap substitute for a tailgate flag pole, we recommend buying an extension pole that you would use to clean outdoor windows and attach your flag to that.

Another idea, if you don’t own a team flag, is to have a helium balloon that you attach to your tailgate spot. Buy some kite string and raise the balloon a couple 100 feet above your spot.

4th Handy tip in Tailgating: Have a group meeting

Because most of the time you will not be tailgating with yourself, our 4th handy tip in tailgating we suggest that you have a group meeting. In this meeting you should discuss the following: First, who will arrive first on the site to get a good spot. Second, how are you going to split up the supplies? Tailgating can be expensive and you want to make sure that everyone takes a part in paying for it.
Make sure that during the meeting someone is writing down all of the assignments to keep everyone responsible and accountable.

Conclusion

Tailgating is a sport in itself. These are but a few of some great handy tips in tailgating. Stick close to the veteran tailgaters and you will learn more about putting on and having fun at a great tailgate party.
