10 Important Reasons Why You Should Quit Smoking For Good

If you were looking for a wake-up call for you to quit smoking for good, you've found it. I have constructed a listing of the dis-heartening facts on smoking as well as the influence it can have on your life if you don't quit the habit.

Here are Some Sobering Statistics to Start Things Off:

-Within United States, cigarette smoking is liable for approx. one in five deaths per year, or approx. 438,000 deaths annually

-Current statistics show that cigarette use could cause more than 8 million deaths yearly by 2030

-Cigarette smoking is the most preventable cause of death in the United States

-Around the World, cigarette use causes over 5 million deaths a year

There isn't a doubt smoking is a killer. On average, those who smoke die 13-14 years earlier than nonsmokers! That equates to 12 to 14 minutes being stripped from your life with each cigarette! Each and every one of those cigarettes you smoke is bringing you closer and closer to an early grave.

A Few More Reasons to Quit Smoking for Good:

-A correlation has been found between smoking and brain damage/premature senility

-If you smoke, your body will require more rest than a non-smoker. Also, smokers don't sleep as good as non-smokers

-Food doesn't taste as satisfying to smokers. When a smoker's nasal cavity is harmed by the effects of all the chemical compounds found in cigarettes their ability to savor different tastes and aromas is reduced.

-Smoking makes people slightly moody and argumentative, mostly due to subconscious understanding of the earlier points

-Smokers find they are sick more frequently than non-smokers. The average smoker misses 7 1/2 work days a year in comparison to 4 1/2 for the non-smoker

This is just a sampling of a much bigger list of issues. There are plenty more reasons to quit smoking for good. You may realize smoking is not healthy, however it helps to stop and look at these facts to wake us up to the severity of what we are truly doing to ourselves.
